Torah Class – The Second Saturday of Each Month
On the second Saturday of each month, from 10 am to noon, Makom member and gabbai, Mike Melnick, leads a community Torah class and discussion. All are welcome; there is no fee. Please join us at the Minkle home: 19557 Calvert St., Tarzana, 91335.

Once each quarter, Makom Ohr Shalom sponsors classes, free and open to all, that are worthwhile in their own right and also introduce participants to our Adult Bar/Bat Mitzvah program. Join Mike Melnick, a Torah teacher, and Alyse Silverman, the “spiritual mother” of our Bnai Mitzvah classes. Check back soon for Information on our next class.

Please call or email Rabbi Debra Orenstein regarding a prospective teen Bar or Bat Mitzvah. We have an excellent program with outstanding teachers, and we can guide you in preparing for this exciting milestone. You can email Rabbi Debra at deboren@aol.com or phone the Makom line at (818) 725-7600.
Teens who had their Bar and Bat Mitzvahs in the past year carry the Torah at a Makom Shabbat service.

Rabbi Debra Orenstein, formerly a regular instructor for Introduction to Judaism classes at the American Jewish University, still teaches classes for Intro to Judaism a few times each year. She is also available, year-round, to serve as a sponsoring rabbi, for anyone taking Introduction to Judaism classes, either with the Union for Reform Judaism or at AJU (formerly UJ). You can reach Rabbi Orenstein through the Makom line: (818) 725-7600. The AJU Introduction to Judaism program can be reached at (310) 440-1273. The URJ program is at (818) 907-8740.
